Scope of Job

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley is seeking applications for an open rank Clinical Faculty Position in the School of Nursing to begin appointment Fall 2021. Duties may include teaching students in classrooms, simulated laboratories, and clinical settings as well as student advisement. Additional efforts in professional achievement and professional service are expected, and experience working with ethnically diverse populations is a plus. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.UTRGVfaculty will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to scholarly work, student success and to advancing the university, college, and program missions and are committed to UTRGVs strategic plan, vision, mission, values and core priorities (https://www.utrgv.edu/strategic-plan/). Salary and academic rank are commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Minimum Qualifications

Masters degree in Nursing from an accredited university. Eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas; licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas prior to beginning the position.

Preferred Qualifications

At least 2 years of clinical experience, previous teaching experience at the baccalaureate and/or graduate level(s) with ethnically diverse populations, evidence of strong potential for teaching effectiveness, educational leadership, and clinical scholarship.

UTRGVis a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may

require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is

performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive

and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code

51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of

Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least

135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement

Program (ORP) instead ofTRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week

and at least 135 days in length.
